What a week part 2

Wow, again, like we said before, WHAT A WEEK!!!! Last Wed our little Luc finally came home!!!! Holy cow were we excited! But what a rude awakening we had into parenthood! Every little noise she made i woke up to make sure she was ok, and boy is our little munchkin a chatterbox!! We surely didnt get any sleep that night out of worry/feedings/diaper changes. All I can say is it is a good thing we had a few days to "sorta" catch up because we are EXHAUSTED, and I am basically recovered. I cant imagine what it would be like taking her home in normal circumstances like usual parents do and still have to recover. I feel bad that I only get basically one thing done on my to-do list a day, I honestly didnt realize that I would be this busy with a newborn cause she just sleeps all day. I still dont get it. Besides making bottles, feeding, changing diapers, and squeezing in a cat nap I am not sure what else I do, but my day is over by the time I get all of this done. I just dont get it!

We went to the Dr today and Lucy is progressing fabulously. I was kind of worried because at the hospital the nurses and Dr's talked about "failure to thrive" and that is when a baby goes home they dont grow and dont do very well, hence, "failure to thrive". But she has gained 7 oz in 5 days and is a respectable 6 lbs!! I was pleasantly suprised. And supposedly she is 20 inches long, which i CANNOT believe since she was only born 17 inches. There is no way she can grow 3 inches in 2 1/2 weeks, right? This wednesday I am thinking I may tackle the chore of taking her pics. I may post some, if, and I mean IF one actually turns out. I am nervous.

Anyway, in other news. My family had the unfortunate event of losing yet another of member of our family. My nephew Wesley passed away last Tuesday. What a crazy day. Wesley and I are only one year apart and for the greater part of our childhood we spent them terrorizing my neighborhood. He was basically a brother rather than a nephew, so hearing the news had a great impact on me. But as that day/week went on I felt very comforted. I am very grateful that I have my beliefs and testimony of Christ, because I truly believe that is why I became so calm about the ordeal. In fact, its more than that, its more than truly believing. There arent words to explain, but the fact that I had my baby in the hospital and the many stresses incorporated in that, and the fact that I was/am still recovering from the hardest moment of my life and my hormones and emotions were RAGING really says how blessed I was that I didnt completely fall apart. Wow, how incredibly blessed am I. Once again, there are no words to explain. The funeral was Sat. I hate funerals. Especially non LDS funerals. But this one wasn't that bad, meaning it wasn't as doom and gloom as they usually are. I like the fact that I know I will be with my family and friends in the next life, and it makes me sad to know that people think that this is the end. I think that is the hardest part of funerals. But everything turned out ok, and I think Wesley would have been pleased.

But to end on a happy note. Lucy is SUPER cute and my husband is SUPER handsome. Its to bad we aren't filthy rich so that we wouldnt have to work and go to school and we could just be together all day everyday and maybe tour the world. Oh if only...

Little Lucy

SSOOO here is a little update of our little precious Lucy. Last night Tyler and I were released to go home from the hospital. Man what a long awaited time! But let me tell you, it was one of the hardest things ever, having to leave behind our baby. I was on the verge of tears all day knowing that time would come and when it did come, boy were the tears rolling. In fact i swear I havent stopped crying since!!! Sheesh, people were right, emotions run HIGH after you have a baby. It has all been so surreal. In my last post i talked about how weird it was to get that connection with her because of all the shinanagans that went on, but let me just say, I seriously cant imagine my life without her. Gosh the love i feel for her is unbelievably overwhelming (hence the tears). Gosh i thought for sure that I couldnt feel anything more powerful then when I fell in love with tyler. That was THE most amazing feeling I had/have. But now that I have my baby here, words cannot explain what I feel. I cannot believe that Heavenly Father thinks I deserve such blessings!! But i guess I will just take it and run right!? Even though it is SO incredibly hard to have her still in the hospital, i know that she is being watched over. Her nurses and Dr's are incredibly talented and I know she is in great hands. The one great thing that I have out of this, is that by the time she gets home, I will be ready, I will be healed, rested (hopefully) and ready to take on the new challenge of motherhood. Since I was kinda put through the ringer, I am really grateful for this time to heal so I can be 100% for my baby. Sorry this is so long and I still havent even updated you on the latest with our he-woman baby. My heart is just so full right now I just cant help it!
Ok ok, here it is, the latest with lucy goose. Since the hardest thing we have to do/teach Lucy right now is learning to eat, I get to do this cute "training" session with her twice a day. Basically i try to get her to breastfeed and kinda show her what to do, but then when she doesnt do it, we get to have "skin to skin" time, where I just hold her next to me, and she just falls right to sleep. It is the cutest thing!! But today she has made GREAT improvements. She got to have to IV taken out AND she started to latch on!!! Man she gets SO mad when we have to practice feeding, but today SHE DID IT!!! Granted, it wore her completely out and as soon as she latched she was gonzo, but, she did it! She has to be under the billy lights starting today too, but thats ok. So hopefully she will continue to eat and grow, and get stronger, and everything else that will help her come home. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers, you are all wonderful, seriously, and here come the tears...

What a week!

Man alive!!! What a week it sure has turned out to be. It has been crazy, scary, wonderful, great, aweful, everything all wrapped into one. I am still in the hospital PRAYING that we (daddy and I) are able to go home tonight. My blood pressure is still high, so it may be iffy. All i can say is sleeping in hospitals is not cool. I guess it would be similar to when we bring Lucy home, no sleep at all. This has been such a crazy experience, now i am talking about birth and the new life of motherhood. When they induced my labor i could immediately feel the result of the on coming contractions. At that point, EPIDURAL please!!! I seriously CANNOT believe I ever contemplated going natural, ARE YOU KIDDING, not in a million years. Praise to all you poineer women out there that go natural, you guys are TOUGH cookies!!! I was trying to focus and breath and do all those things while you are contracting, but thanks to the super friendly chattiness of my nurse, I had to listen to her talk about chocolate, and laughing, shooting the breeze like nothing. To her, it probably was, but to me, I just wanted to scream! But then i luckily got the epidural in and all was well in zion, well of course, until the going got tough and it wore off almost completely and I felt pretty much EVERYTHING!!! Lets just say that going through birth was THE absolute hardest/painful thing I have ever done in my life. There were moments when I honestly did not think I could do it, but somehow it happened and all of a sudden I saw my little juicy butterball being carried over to get worked on. Talk about SURREAL!!!! I had invisioned this moment time and time again, and once again, just like the rest of the week, it wasnt exactly how I imagined. I was in such shock thinking that I have a real life child and watching the nurses carry her away, that I had no emotion. I thought that I should cry, but i couldnt, I just layed there. Isnt that the weirdest thing?! I had no emotions when my first born child was born. I only got to hold her for about 2 minutes before they had to take her away again. And again, I just layed there in complete oblivion. It has been so strange these last couple of days, having a child but only with the supervision of others. We cant take her to our room and when we are in the nursery, all the nurses, other babies and parents, and machines are all around and we cant just be a family all by ourselves and that is a really strange thing to us. I just want to hold my baby all day, and just look at her and marvel at how precious she is. She may have to be in the hospital until her actual due date (March 30) but she may get to come home sooner (fingers crossed) if she learns how to eat. I just pray that all goes well, I cant wait to have my family all to myself, healthy and happy!!!!

Baby Lucy

Well friends baby Lucy is here, just a few weeks earlier than what we expected. Both Jody and Lucy are doing great but after being in the hospital since Tuesday we are ready to go home. Since Lucy was so early she gets to stay here. Its kind of weird. We don't feel like real parents yet because we can go hold her, feed her but then we leave and have round the clock babysitters to do everything else for us. Yes I know we should enjoy it while it lasts. Needless to say its pretty awesome having a baby girl, I highly recommend it! I'll keep this short and I'll post some pictures of her so everyone can stop saying I'm a bad husband for not putting pictures up sooner.

Holy crap!!!!

Well, what an interesting day it has turned out to be! This morning I had my two week Dr appt and it turns out that my blood pressure is HIGH and I have quite a bit of protein in my urine (TMI, i know). So the Dr had me go straight to the hospital with the news that I could be a real life mommy by tomorrow!!! WWWHHHHAAAAATTTT!!! I am only 34 weeks, I cannot be having a baby right now! I am not ready, what about complications with the baby being early, what if there are complications with my health, what if, what if, what if!!!!! Talk about a scare and a half. I was in complete shock when they were explaining all this to me. I knew something wasnt quite right with myself, but then again, i have never been pregnant before, I thought feeling like crap was just part of the deal (which I think it is to a certain extent).
So here is the run down of what has been happening today and what may or may not happen by tomorrow. I got to the hospital and they put me on fetal monitors and a blood pressure cuff and they monitored me for a few hours. My blood pressure didnt really go down much so then we went in to have an ultrasound. That was cool and it was great news. The baby is doing great! WHEW!! There is plenty of fluid in there and everything has developed just fine. In fact it turns out that she is measuring a week ahead! So that is great news. She is approx 5 lbs 9 oz. And yes she is still a SHE ( i was kinda nervous about that). So everything with the baby looks great, so we couldnt be happier. But since my blood pressure didnt go down and there is even MORE protein in my urine (sorry, i know tmi) I have to stay over night here at the hospital for further testing. WOW I did not see this coming!!! So here is the run down, if my blood pressure gets over 160 or if there is over 5 (grams?) of protein in my urine after 24 hours, then SUPRISE we will be having our little baby tomorrow!!!! Again, WHAT!!!! But if I am stable and everything looks ok, then I just have to be on STRICT bedrest until I have her, and if thats the case (which it probably will be) then i have to go to the Dr twice a week to be monitored and have an ultrasound and more testing and if I actually get to 37 weeks (mind you, that is ONLY 3 weeks away) then they will induce me. So it looks like I am on maternity leave early, poor work, i haven't even trained the person who is taking care of my stuff while I am gone, I feel so bad! So ya, that is the jist of things. Pretty darn crazy. But I actually feel ok about it all, I was really scared in the beginning but I know things are going to be ok regardless of what happens. Keep us in your prayers!

Sitting, waiting, wishing...

Wow I cant believe that it has been 5 weeks since our last post. I swear, time flies faster and faster every year!!! Gosh we haven't even talked about Christmas (even though our last post was about the New Year). Quick recap: it was great, as always. We spent Christmas in E-town and then New Years in Logan.
I swear I have a new blog post that I think up everyday, but I never post my thoughts! But today is a new day. Today's post is all about what is up in the King home. Well since the new year, Ty has started his VERY last semester at BYU. It is basically a fluff semester for him cause he has all of his credits, he is basically just going so he can keep his job at the library. Also, we have been applying to grad schools. We have everything in to all the schools and are just waiting to hear back. We are VERY nervous and can not WAIT to finally know where in the world we will end up in the next couple of months. Man, what stress I tell you. Not knowing what or where we are going to be 4 months from now (this includes jobs, housing, finances, everything) especially when we will have a baby in tow. But something will work out, we at least know that much. Its just kinda scary.
As for myself, I am just chugging along. Currently in the baby stats, I only have 8 weeks left. That seems so crazy!! I thought I would never be this far along, but alas, here I am. I start my "every two weeks" Dr. appt starting tuesday, so that is cool. Our little munchkin is only around half her weight, which is ALSO crazy to me, A) because i swear my stomach cannot get much bigger; and B) it seems like she should be bigger than she is since she only has so little time left to cook! I had my first emotional breakdown the other night. That was weird, didnt like it. I swear there wasn't one thing I didnt cry about!!! Oh I hate when my emotions get the best of me!! But I guess that is just one part of being pregnant sometimes. I felt really bad for Ty, but he couldnt be more awesome. Through the up's and down's of pregnancy, he never gets (or shows) annoyed and he treats me like a queen! What a sweetheart!! But I do have to admit, I am ready to get back to my normal non-pregnant self. I have had a pretty cake pregnancy, lets be honest, but I dont know, how do I say this without sounding completely HORID; I cant say I am one of those people who LOVE being pregnant. And no, I dont feel bad saying that. I know some people just LOVE it, and they love every second, but I am just not that way. That doesnt mean I will never be pregnant again, in fact it doesnt change how many children Ty and I originally planned to have. There are certain parts that I love, that are just so precious, that I feel truely blessed to be able to experience that a man will never get to experience; I will never take that for granted. And I know everything that happens will be totally worth it, and I cant wait, honestly. I may sound sort of contridicting saying i dont like it, but in a way i do, but that is the truth. I could jab on and on about this subject, but I will refrain; your welcome. But we have a TON of exciting things happening in the next little while that we need to keep up on, but until then, adios!

The Best of the 00's

To those who have a job where they sit at a computer all day, spending most of their time rummaging through the internet in a quest to try and pass the long hours, you have probably noticed a trend. This is the time of the year when many of the most popular news sources like Newsweek, USA Today, and Time magazine put out their top ten lists. But since this is the end of the decade they have taken this holiday tradition to the next level. Nothing is spared as you can read the top ten lists about everything from movies, music, to worst political gaffes of the decade. Since I have to work these next two weeks with nothing really to do here at the library, I thought I would take the initiative and make some of my own top ten lists. Everyone who reads this should feel free to comment, contribute and even disagree with any of these lists because this is just the world according to Tyler.
As I've started to formulate some of these lists the first thing that jumps out at me is how much time I have on my hands, second how hard it is to narrow these things down! But don't worry loyal readers, I've pushed through the pain and with the help of my good friend Wikipedia, I have my first list.

The top ten films of the 00's
I should probably give some kind of reasoning to my madness but honestly I don't really know if I have any solid criteria. I think one of the things that makes a great movie is its re watchable value. Can you watch the same movie multiple times and still think its awesome. Also of these movies remind me of a certain time in my life that was fun or important I put them in. Some of these movies may not have won many awards but hey, this is my list and I can do whatever I want!
1. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
Say what you want about the last two films in this trilogy but the first was the best! I remember seeing it my freshman year in the theater and then seeing it three more times once it came to the dollar theater. This movie is just plain fun, great acting, amazing actions scenes and one of the funniest scripts out there.
2. The Dark Knight (2008)
I think one of the best things about this movie was taking my cousin to see it about a week after he got home from his mission, needless to say I think he is still traumatized to this day! Its easy to dismiss this film as just another comic book movie but just like ogres it has layers. For me it talks about the post 9/11 world we live in and the difficult choices we have to make. Not to mention it has some of the best action scenes I have ever seen and through in Heath Ledgers Joker and you have a great movie.
3. Finding Neverland (2004)
I didn't seen this one until I got back from my mission but it was worth the wait. It was just a solid movie, from the story, cinematography, acting, I loved just everything about it.
4. Minority Report (2002)
The first film on the list from my favorite director, Steven Spielberg, Minority Report is another film you just can't think of as Sci Fi because there is so much more to it than that. Its like a modern day Raiders of the Lost Ark.
5. The Emperors New Groove (2001)
One of the lesser known Disney Cartoons but still hilarious and with a nice message at the end.
6. Hitch (2005)
Hitch is one of those movies that always seems to be TNT but you still watch it every time. In my opinion its the best chick flick of the decade, I mean it has the great Will Smith in it, what more do you need? Whenever I watch the part where Albert gets up the nerve to kiss Alegra and throws his inhaler away, I think of Cam, hamming it up in his Senior year video, priceless!
7. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)
Yes I know there are a few inappropriate parts but with clear play its all good!
8. The Incredible s (2004)
Can Pixar make a bad movie? I think not!
9. Gladiator (2000)
"Are you not Entertained!!!!"
10. Casino Royal (2006)
The best James Bond to date, this is one of my favorite movies because its the rare "guy flick" that Jody will actually watch with me.
10b. Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
How can anyone not love this movie. Boy meets girl, Boy gets sold into slavery, Boy loses girl, Boy finds girl and wins who wants to be a millionaire. Pretty good if you ask me.

Honorable Mention:
UP (2009) Balled like a baby during the first five minutes. Shrek 2 (2002) The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), Star Trek (2009) WALLE (2008) Bruce Almighty (2003), 3:10 to Yuma (2007) Avatar (2009)
