This just in...

Some awesome things I would like to share with the class:

1) I am sure you have ALL heard because I cant stop blabbing about it that Ty and I have been working on running a 5K this summer. WE DID IT!!! We in the King home are NOT runners well maybe we are sort of trying to be runners these days. In fact I would have died if I knew I had to run more than 1 block, and even then... But we have been training and we did it. I actually accomplished something. This is such a big deal to ME because I actually set a goal and I actually accomplished it. I always make goals, but I pretty much never accomplish any of them. Sad I know. But Ty and I and Lucy in her little stroller did this together!! Neither of us have ever ran that much or that long before. Here is what I have to say, PEOPLE YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS!!!We can do hard things. Even I, Jody King, can do hard things. So we did the Lavender 5K and let me just say that Young Living Farms is BEAUTIFUL!!! I fell in love with the place. I never knew it was so beautiful because you cant see most of the farm from the freeway only the awesome lavender fields. If you ever get a chance to go SEE IT!!!

2) Lucy just laughed for the FIRST time today!!! I have been waiting for this moment since she was born. I am super excited at this!! Not many things are more adorable than a baby laughing. I will catch this on camera one day and post it, just you wait. Another thing she did today is roll over from her tummy to her back! Here is a little video...

Ok... So i cant get the video uploaded. And... i ended up getting the drive stuck in the computer. Like REALLY stuck. Like an inch deep inside stuck. OOPS

3) I have been craving tootsie rolls lately and so I made homemade ones. Not so good. I was really bummed. They definitely aren't as good as the original.

4) I LOVE my Lucy-bear and my Ty-bum. I am so lucky

5) And this one I am grateful for but still trying not get get uptight about. Heres why. I am not down to my pre-preg size yet. Bummer :( Thats why I get a little frustrated. BUT the good news is I am down 7 lbs since starting the running thing. WAHOO!!! I just have to keep telling myself that I can do and I AM doing it. Just slowly, kind of like my running.... Who knew the few extra would be so stingy!!!

Summer lovin

Well all I cant believe it myself, but we have actually kept a real life human alive for a whopping 4 months!!! This may not be an achievement to most, but to us, its kind of a big deal. I mean your talking about a girl who cant keep a plant a live and killed it by putting christmas decorations on the tiny little leaves and who fed her brothers fish some candy for its dinner. And my lovely husband whos fish Sparky died after a day. ok, maybe we just arent fish people. But it is true that little Lucy has hit the 4 month mark back on June 18th. We are proud of our little butterball, maybe the kind of butter made with 1% milk because she is still pretty little, but a butterball none-the-less she is growing like a little weed. It turns out she is in the 50th %ile for height and weight, and yes an astounding 90th %ile for her head!!! She is just really smart i guess. Do keep in mind though, that these stats are for her adjusted age 2 & 1/2 months not for a typical 4 month old. So all in all she is growing, growing, growing! I was really worried that she wasnt even going to be on the charts but she is right on track! GOOD JOB LUCE!!!

Another two thumbs up would be to Ty and I because believe it or not, we have actually, for reals, not even joking, have worked our way up to jogging 2 3/4 miles nonstop!!! I know, i honestly cant believe it either. I never in my life have been able to do this, never. I was even pretty darn fit in high school and this would have kicked my trash in a second. I think it has to do with a LOT of prayer and telling myself that I can do hard things. I always tell myself "Jody, you have given birth and it was a heck of a lot harder and longer than this is going to be, and you are still alive, you can do this!!" We are scheduled to run our very first 5K on July 10 at the Lavender Fields. We are excited. Nervous, but excited well I am a least.

In other news, still no job yet for Tyler. Granted he does have a job right now, but thats only because he is taking a completely waste of our time and money class that he has already taken for a stinkin $600+books so he can not even make that much money in his total salary this summer notice how I am not at all pleased with this situation, just so he can keep a job until August. I feel like we are being taken, I dont think we are, but thats how I feel. Its just like sending your kid to daycare just so you can work and make money, but all your money goes to the daycare, so there really isnt a point in going to work and sending your kid to daycare. Does that make sense. Total catch 22!!! I cant handle it. There must be a better way. But there isnt!!! At least not to our earthly knowledge. Ty has had his resume out to at least 35 places since April and he has had a total of 2 job interviews, TWO!!!! Its not that he isnt qualified. Its not that he is applying for jobs that he isnt trained for, or shooting for the absolute perfect job. He isnt. He is just trying to find a job that makes more than minimum wage for crying out loud!!!! Gees he couldnt even get a job throwing peanuts at the Owls baseball stadium!!! I just dont get it. But we are trying to keep our spirits up mine are warring, im not the most patient. Its just really scary to know that he HAS to have a job by August or we will have to resort to selling our kidneys on the black market you think i am kidding?. Plus I dont think our insurance will cover that. Anyway, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us know of any job openings!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will be our hero.

I wish i had pics of Lucy to post. They are all on my phone and I have NO CLUE of how to get them transferred, our phones dont have sd cards in them. But maybe I will think of something. Until til then, have a wonderful week all!!

PICTURE OVERLOAD

Well here is a butt load of pictures that i have been waiting to post. most all of the pics are from when Lucy got her newborn's done (even though she was 2 months old at the time). Now we need to get her 3 month pics done! but i am pretty sure these are some of the CUTEST pics i have ever seen. our photographer is Alisha Siddoway in Logan and she is AMAZING!!! Her prices are incredible and she knows how to handle a camera. Lucy was kind of a pill through most of them and as you can see she still got amazing pics!!! I cant say enough about her!! Andthis is completely random but i just have to say, right now lucy has this swing she sits in and there are little birds that go in circles above her head and also has a mirror to look at. well for weeks she loves the little birds and watches them as the bobble and sway above her head, but today, today folks is a new day!! she has discovered the mirror!!! she has been staring at herself completely bamboozled for the past 10 minutes!!! oh i love it!!! i can just see those brain wheels a churnin. She is so stinkin cute, i cant handle it!!! Oh ya, and another way random thing, lucy is losing her hair:( there are little hairs all over her stuff and when i put lotion in her hair it gets all over me and her!! But she is still bea-utiful!!!
these first pics are from lucy's blessing on mothers day

these are the ones alisha did

So little time

Well, where do I even begin?! It has been almost two months since our last post. Well life is awesome. We will start there. Ty and I are still here in Provo, and will be until who knows when. You know what, we are perfectly ok with that. We didnt get in to any school's for Ty. And we are ok with that too. I am back to work, and for the most part, am ok with that (most days). Life is great. We still have no idea where we are going to end up, what Ty will be doing for a career/school, and where we will be 6 months down the road. But life is good. Honestly, we are so happy. Having Luce around is the best thing ever. Being miserable for 8 months was TOTALLY worth it, and I would do it again in a second (well maybe in a couple of years).

Right now I am back to work full time. Ty is working at the Library until August and in the mean time, is looking for a good job, so that maybe I could stay home more and take care of Lucy. He is going to change his major to Sports management and is looking for a job to give him some good experience in this. We are also thinking about the Air Force. The bottom line is, we are trying to figure out what the Lord wants us to do.

Luce is growing like a weed. Well to us she is. To everyone else she is teeny tiny. She is almost 11 weeks old and is 9 lbs. She is still in newborn clothes. But last week i could fit my thumb and middle finger around her thigh, and this week I cant!!! I was exciting about this since I would LOVE for her to chunk up a bit. But she is doing awesome! She is almost sleeping through the night and is cooing, and talking, smiling, and is so strong! She is like a little he-woman. She does have reflux and has to take medicine and she pukes ALL the time (not spit-up, she pukes, like her whole bottle at once sometimes). Man we love this little girl. In our prenatal class we took before we had her, the nurse drew a straight line and then the line dipped and then rose up and flat-lined again , but the line after the dip was higher than the other line (if this makes sense). She explained that before you have your baby, life is good, then for the first few weeks after you have them, stress, exhaustion, and whatever else makes life dip down. After you get used to everything life is better than it ever has been and you cant imagine it any better. That is SSOOOO true in our experience. Life is so good. It doesnt matter how poor we are, where we are going to be in 6 months, or what crazy things come our way. Its crazy how much happiness one little poopy, spitty, crying, beautiful, happy little girl can bring.

In the mean time... Awesome news!!! Ty and I have been married for 2 years!!! Yesterday (Sunday) was our anniversary. I cant tell you how amazing our two years together has been. Man I can tell you I have never been more in love. I have said this time and time again, Ty and I can stare at the wall and it would be SO fun. We love being together. We are obsessed with each other. I always wonder if people get sick of us being so lovey dovey all the time. Not that i care one i-ota if they do. One thing I love about us being married is that we are best friends. Honestly, there isn't one thing we dont talk about, we are never worried if we are dorks in front of each other (which is all the time), we laugh, cry, sometimes laugh until we cry. I am so glad we have eternity to hang out and just be together. Dont worry we have many pictures to catch you all up with, but I dont have them uploaded yet. But stay tuned!

What a week part 2

Wow, again, like we said before, WHAT A WEEK!!!! Last Wed our little Luc finally came home!!!! Holy cow were we excited! But what a rude awakening we had into parenthood! Every little noise she made i woke up to make sure she was ok, and boy is our little munchkin a chatterbox!! We surely didnt get any sleep that night out of worry/feedings/diaper changes. All I can say is it is a good thing we had a few days to "sorta" catch up because we are EXHAUSTED, and I am basically recovered. I cant imagine what it would be like taking her home in normal circumstances like usual parents do and still have to recover. I feel bad that I only get basically one thing done on my to-do list a day, I honestly didnt realize that I would be this busy with a newborn cause she just sleeps all day. I still dont get it. Besides making bottles, feeding, changing diapers, and squeezing in a cat nap I am not sure what else I do, but my day is over by the time I get all of this done. I just dont get it!

We went to the Dr today and Lucy is progressing fabulously. I was kind of worried because at the hospital the nurses and Dr's talked about "failure to thrive" and that is when a baby goes home they dont grow and dont do very well, hence, "failure to thrive". But she has gained 7 oz in 5 days and is a respectable 6 lbs!! I was pleasantly suprised. And supposedly she is 20 inches long, which i CANNOT believe since she was only born 17 inches. There is no way she can grow 3 inches in 2 1/2 weeks, right? This wednesday I am thinking I may tackle the chore of taking her pics. I may post some, if, and I mean IF one actually turns out. I am nervous.

Anyway, in other news. My family had the unfortunate event of losing yet another of member of our family. My nephew Wesley passed away last Tuesday. What a crazy day. Wesley and I are only one year apart and for the greater part of our childhood we spent them terrorizing my neighborhood. He was basically a brother rather than a nephew, so hearing the news had a great impact on me. But as that day/week went on I felt very comforted. I am very grateful that I have my beliefs and testimony of Christ, because I truly believe that is why I became so calm about the ordeal. In fact, its more than that, its more than truly believing. There arent words to explain, but the fact that I had my baby in the hospital and the many stresses incorporated in that, and the fact that I was/am still recovering from the hardest moment of my life and my hormones and emotions were RAGING really says how blessed I was that I didnt completely fall apart. Wow, how incredibly blessed am I. Once again, there are no words to explain. The funeral was Sat. I hate funerals. Especially non LDS funerals. But this one wasn't that bad, meaning it wasn't as doom and gloom as they usually are. I like the fact that I know I will be with my family and friends in the next life, and it makes me sad to know that people think that this is the end. I think that is the hardest part of funerals. But everything turned out ok, and I think Wesley would have been pleased.

But to end on a happy note. Lucy is SUPER cute and my husband is SUPER handsome. Its to bad we aren't filthy rich so that we wouldnt have to work and go to school and we could just be together all day everyday and maybe tour the world. Oh if only...

Little Lucy

SSOOO here is a little update of our little precious Lucy. Last night Tyler and I were released to go home from the hospital. Man what a long awaited time! But let me tell you, it was one of the hardest things ever, having to leave behind our baby. I was on the verge of tears all day knowing that time would come and when it did come, boy were the tears rolling. In fact i swear I havent stopped crying since!!! Sheesh, people were right, emotions run HIGH after you have a baby. It has all been so surreal. In my last post i talked about how weird it was to get that connection with her because of all the shinanagans that went on, but let me just say, I seriously cant imagine my life without her. Gosh the love i feel for her is unbelievably overwhelming (hence the tears). Gosh i thought for sure that I couldnt feel anything more powerful then when I fell in love with tyler. That was THE most amazing feeling I had/have. But now that I have my baby here, words cannot explain what I feel. I cannot believe that Heavenly Father thinks I deserve such blessings!! But i guess I will just take it and run right!? Even though it is SO incredibly hard to have her still in the hospital, i know that she is being watched over. Her nurses and Dr's are incredibly talented and I know she is in great hands. The one great thing that I have out of this, is that by the time she gets home, I will be ready, I will be healed, rested (hopefully) and ready to take on the new challenge of motherhood. Since I was kinda put through the ringer, I am really grateful for this time to heal so I can be 100% for my baby. Sorry this is so long and I still havent even updated you on the latest with our he-woman baby. My heart is just so full right now I just cant help it!
Ok ok, here it is, the latest with lucy goose. Since the hardest thing we have to do/teach Lucy right now is learning to eat, I get to do this cute "training" session with her twice a day. Basically i try to get her to breastfeed and kinda show her what to do, but then when she doesnt do it, we get to have "skin to skin" time, where I just hold her next to me, and she just falls right to sleep. It is the cutest thing!! But today she has made GREAT improvements. She got to have to IV taken out AND she started to latch on!!! Man she gets SO mad when we have to practice feeding, but today SHE DID IT!!! Granted, it wore her completely out and as soon as she latched she was gonzo, but, she did it! She has to be under the billy lights starting today too, but thats ok. So hopefully she will continue to eat and grow, and get stronger, and everything else that will help her come home. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers, you are all wonderful, seriously, and here come the tears...

What a week!

Man alive!!! What a week it sure has turned out to be. It has been crazy, scary, wonderful, great, aweful, everything all wrapped into one. I am still in the hospital PRAYING that we (daddy and I) are able to go home tonight. My blood pressure is still high, so it may be iffy. All i can say is sleeping in hospitals is not cool. I guess it would be similar to when we bring Lucy home, no sleep at all. This has been such a crazy experience, now i am talking about birth and the new life of motherhood. When they induced my labor i could immediately feel the result of the on coming contractions. At that point, EPIDURAL please!!! I seriously CANNOT believe I ever contemplated going natural, ARE YOU KIDDING, not in a million years. Praise to all you poineer women out there that go natural, you guys are TOUGH cookies!!! I was trying to focus and breath and do all those things while you are contracting, but thanks to the super friendly chattiness of my nurse, I had to listen to her talk about chocolate, and laughing, shooting the breeze like nothing. To her, it probably was, but to me, I just wanted to scream! But then i luckily got the epidural in and all was well in zion, well of course, until the going got tough and it wore off almost completely and I felt pretty much EVERYTHING!!! Lets just say that going through birth was THE absolute hardest/painful thing I have ever done in my life. There were moments when I honestly did not think I could do it, but somehow it happened and all of a sudden I saw my little juicy butterball being carried over to get worked on. Talk about SURREAL!!!! I had invisioned this moment time and time again, and once again, just like the rest of the week, it wasnt exactly how I imagined. I was in such shock thinking that I have a real life child and watching the nurses carry her away, that I had no emotion. I thought that I should cry, but i couldnt, I just layed there. Isnt that the weirdest thing?! I had no emotions when my first born child was born. I only got to hold her for about 2 minutes before they had to take her away again. And again, I just layed there in complete oblivion. It has been so strange these last couple of days, having a child but only with the supervision of others. We cant take her to our room and when we are in the nursery, all the nurses, other babies and parents, and machines are all around and we cant just be a family all by ourselves and that is a really strange thing to us. I just want to hold my baby all day, and just look at her and marvel at how precious she is. She may have to be in the hospital until her actual due date (March 30) but she may get to come home sooner (fingers crossed) if she learns how to eat. I just pray that all goes well, I cant wait to have my family all to myself, healthy and happy!!!!
